Paul Young (not the singer) was born and raised in East Sussex in the south-east of England, where he lives with his wife Nichola and two children, Isabel and Jack.
His first book, Ashton: Escaping the Island, is a thrilling short story based in south-west Cornwall and on a fictional island off the tip of England.
Inspiration for some of the locations in the book come from annual family holidays to the Lizard area of Cornwall, ever since Paul was a child. Paul has owned a small holiday chalet near Lizard since 2001 and visits with his own family every year.
Writing is a new adventure for Paul, having been a software engineer for most of his working life, and also finds time to run Animazing, a Community Interest Company inspiring young people to be creative through the story of classic children’s television production.
For Animazing, he has also written an original script for an immersive theatrical experience being presented by local students in September 2022.
He quotes Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club and Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code as inspiration for his fiction writing.
