Tony Duffield
I was born in my Grandfather’s farmhouse in Sayerlands. Polegate in May 1952. I was educated at Polegate Infants then after at Polegate Primary. Later at Willingdon Secondary Modern School. Left school aged fifteen and initially trained as a Butcher. After three and a half years a friend got me a job with him in an engineering shop. I then worked in several factories before becoming a milk delivery roundsman for a total of eighteen years. I had a car repair unit along with a business partner. I later became a taxi driver working nights in Eastbourne, my experiences here after another eighteen years employment may become the basis of another amusing if not somewhat wild book. For most of my life I have had a deep passion for motorcycles and our exploits here have led to finally publishing my first book last March entitled Life at the Limit some fifty years on from those original events for which I was interviewed on Hailsham FM in December 2025. In the 1970’s I ran a six man banger racing team which included my two brothers and three friends. I now live just inside the Hailsham borders less than two miles from where I was born.
