The Magic of Pantomime with Ian Gledhill

Pantomime is an enduring and peculiarly British institution, yet its beginnings go back a very long way and are in fact anything but British!

Join Ian Gledhill for a fascinating talk about the origins of Pantomime and explore many of the traditions (and superstitions) that have become attached to it over the years interspersed with Ian’s personal anecdotes from years of working and appearing in pantomime.

Ian Gledhill

I began my career as an engineer, designing extensions to the London Underground.  However, most of my working life has been spent in the theatre,  mainly in opera and musical theatre, as a director, set designer and opera translator.  I have also worked in television, music publishing, travel and tourism.

I have over 20 years experience in giving talks on a wide range of subjects, and am an accredited arts society lecturer.  My full list of talks now runs to over 40 titles.  Subjects include architectural history, music, theatre, and transport histories.
