String! Showcase Concert Auditions – Information

Thank you for your interest in the String! Showcase auditions.

Auditions will take place on Saturday, May 22nd and 29th  in Summerheath Hall, Hailsham. You will be allocated a time slot of 15 minutes and will be asked to arrive no more than 10 minutes before your time.

You should be over 18 and feel comfortable singing publicly in front of an audience. If you are successful you will get the opportunity to sing both solo songs and in ensembles during the show so  you will need to be able to hold a part.

Audition Repertoire

You will be asked to perform:

  1. a music-theatre song or excerpt of your own choice lasting 1 – 2 minutes. We would like to request that you perform to a backing track or unaccompanied. If you are going to use a backing track, please remember to bring a device on which to play it (a phone should be sufficient).
  2. a song or part of a song from String! (see below). We will provide an accompanist for this.

The audition songs from String! are:

Soprano and Mezzo Soprano Voices – No 3. This House (please prepare the part marked Harriet)

Young Soprano Voices (under 25) –  Hey Cupid, Are You Working Today? (please prepare just the part marked Harriet)

Alto Voices –  Love’s the Greatest Market in the World (verses 1 and 2)

Baritone VoicesCan’t Let the World Go (verses 1 & 2)

Young Tenor/High Baritone Voices (under 25) – A Helping Hand to Fate

If you’re not sure what sort of voice you have or would like to talk through anything else about the auditions or the show, please contact us on info@hailshamfestival.co.uk and we’ll try to help.
