The Artists’ Bridge
The Artists’ Bridge, Hailsham, East Sussex
The Artists’ Bridge in Hailsham, East Sussex (Eastwell Place Bridge) was opened on September 9th 2023 as part of Hailsham Festival of Arts and Culture. The bridge had been somewhat unloved for a number of years and was frequently covered in unwelcome graffiti.
The concept of installing art on the bridge was devised by Councillor Steve Murphy (ESCC) who suggested that Hailsham Festival might like to facilitate the project.
Nearly 300 pieces of art were submitted for consideration and of those, 77 of these can now be viewed, both on the bridge and lower down on this and subsequent pages. Additional information about each artist may follow in due course.
We will be delighted if you are able to visit the bridge and have a look for yourself. It is situated about half way down the footpath which runs from the right of the Genadier Pub, 67 High Street Hailsham, to the Memorial Institute on Western Road.
