This year we are running the competitions as usual, but also inviting entries for the Anthology, which is not part of the competition. So if you want to write something, and would like to see it in print, without being part of a competition, then send any of these entries to firstname.lastname@example.org 21st August 2021. Anthology entries carry the same length restrictions (Stories 500 words/Poetry 30 lines)
Short stories for children should not exceed 500 words (Junior and Senior school age groups only). [For Adult Short story entries please refer to Wealden Writers competition (coming soon)
Poetry should not exceed 30 lines (All age groups)
We are looking for your imagination…… so the subject matter is open, but anything offensive or unsuitable may be disqualified. All competition winners will be included in the Anthology, Please notify us when sending in your competition entry if you do NOT want your piece to be published in the Anthology.
Entries will be judged by a panel of 5 independent literary experts, and their decision will be final.
Age groups will be in line with the school year groups, i.e. Junior: Years 1 – 7; Senior: Years 8 – 11; Adult – age 17 or over. Prizes will be awarded to top 3 in each age group.1st £15, 2nd £10 and 3rd £5.
